Controlling my dreams

May 6, 2015

Every morning is the same. I set my alarm for around 6.30. The alarm goes off, I hit the snooze button and I go back to sleep. Normally I do this at least 2-3 times, and it’s my favourite part of sleeping. There is nothing better than the feeling of falling back asleep when you’re really tired.

In addition to that feeling, because it’s not a very heavy sleep, it allows you to dream, and who doesn’t like that! I find that sometimes you can almost control your dreams a little bit at that stage, which is pretty cool. But then sometimes you can’t control them at all. I often have awesome dreams in the morning that I don’t want to wake up from, so sometimes when I hit that snooze button I can return to it. But every now and again I’ll start a new dream instead. Sometimes I’ll dream about a certain person, and when I go back to sleep, it’s the same story, but the person had been replaced by someone else.

Have you ever noticed that time goes really slow when you’re dreaming? When I hit the snooze button I know it will go off again after nine minutes. But during those nine minutes I can usually fit in a whole dream that feels an hour long. It’s quite crazy!

Do you also hit the snooze button in the morning, or do you prefer waking up straight away?
