Winter has arrived in New Zealand

June 18, 2015

Well, at least on the South Island. In the North, it just gets cold and rainy, and I don’t necessarily call that winter. It’s just gross. But the South Island gets snow, which to be honest – I would rather have. The only bad thing about snow in New Zealand would be the driving part. I don’t think the tires of the vehicles on the North Island would be able to handle it, and we would have lots of accidents.

All the above photos are from Stuff.co.nz. The mountains will be looking real pretty after this. During the snow storm I’m guessing you can’t even see them, but once the sky clears up, it will look amazing.

Great photos, dangerous looking roads. i drove the snowy roads in Michigan all my life and don’t miss it here. I didn’t know NZ cars use the left lane. 🙂
