I’ve mentioned before that Jeremy and I are going to Queenstown and Wanaka in October. It’s only June, but I’m getting quite excited already. We’re currently researching accommodation and activities for when we’re there.
We’ve got the accommodation for Wanaka booked already. We arrive there on the 9th of October and will stay for two nights at a place called The Moorings. It looks something like this:
All the above photos are from their website. We’ve booked a ‘Romantic Deal’, which apparently gives us both breakfast for one day and a box of chocolates. Not sure how romantic that really is, haha. But hey, better than nothing I suppose.
Looking at the pictures it seems like the top level units are better than the bottom ones, so I made sure we got one of them when I called up to book. I just don’t like how the bush is blocking the view in the lower one, haha.
We haven’t yet decided on a place to stay in Queenstown, but that’s what we’re trying to figure out today. We’re staying there for three nights, and we’re wanting to book something pretty nice, but still not too expensive. It’s quite difficult when it comes to Queenstown. Because it’s such a popular tourist destination, the hotels and activities are expensive.
I was looking at a place called DoubleTree by Hilton. I guess it’s a cheaper Hilton hotel of some sort. The pictures look pretty decent. It’s nothing too flash, but it’s not crap either. This is what it looks like:
Those photos are taken from the DoubleTree by Hilton website. It looks quite compact, but the view seems nice enough. And to be honest, we’re probably not looking at spending too much time at the hotel anyway. Although, that is where I’ll be doing my blogging, unless I decide to save the blogging for when we get back. That’ll depend on how busy we are and whether or not we get Wifi at the hotel.
Apparently you get a chocolate chip cookie when you arrive, and they have a 10-seater cinema. So if the weather is crap, at least we could watch a movie, haha. Not sure if it’s included in the price or if you have to pay extra. I’m going to guess you’d pay extra. The only problem is that it is apparently 15 minutes drive away from central Queenstown. Not a huge problem I suppose, and it could be nice to be a bit separated from the loud city (not that I know if it gets that loud, but I would guess it does).
Alright, better continue my research!
