While sick last weekend, I watched four movies in total. For some reason I was in more of a movie mood than TV mood, which is unusual for me. I thought I would share my thoughts on the movies I watched! They were all quite girly movies, so sorry to any men out there who may be following my blog, haha!
White Bird in a Blizzard
I hadn’t actually heard of this movie before, I was just on YouTube watching trailers when I came across it. I thought the trailer looked interesting. Not amazing, but interesting. What won me over was the fact that Shailene Woodley had the lead role. I quite like her as an actress (although I haven’t seen The Fault in our Stars or Divergent yet). I then saw that Shiloh Fernandez was also in it, and I liked him in Red Riding Hood.
This movie is about a teen girl who’s mum disappears one day with no trace. She had a rough relationship with her mum, so she takes it on the chin and doesn’t think much of it. But throughout the movie she thinks more and more about what happened to her mum.
It definitely had an indie-movie feel over it. It’s the kind of movie that makes you think a bit, but isn’t too strange, if you know what I mean! (I’m sorry to all the indie movie fans out there, I usually find them super strange). The acting in the movie was really good in my opinion, and I think they picked the right person for the lead role. It’s so different from what she usually does. I’m curious to see what else she will do in the future. I reckon she’s got a great future ahead of her.
The Pretty One
I first wanted to watch this movie because I thought it looked interesting, and then I realised that Jake Johnson is in it and I was sold, haha! I just love him. And Ruby Sparks is a really cool actress too in my opinion.
This movie is about a girl who loses her twin in a car crash, but her family thinks it was her that died, so she takes over the life of her twin. I thought it seemed like a pretty interesting storyline, and it was! It’s not an amazing movie, but it’s entertaining. It’s quite clever and funny, but it’s also sad at the same time. I would recommend you watch it if you like chick flicks, because although it might not classify as a chick flick, I feel that it’s definitely more of a girly movie.
Tonight You’re Mine
I saw the trailer for this movie quite a while back and I knew it was going to be a hit or miss kind of movie. Two strangers who are both part of bands playing at T in the Park gets handcuffed together and spends the larger part of the movie trying to figure out how to get them off. When they don’t succeed, they realise they’re just going to have to stick together and try to enjoy the night. Feelings start to develop, both anger and love.
I actually quite liked it. I’s pretty unique and clever. The movie isn’t too long, I think it was around an hour and 20 minutes which is quite short these days, but it was a good length for the story. Definitely more of an indie movie, and I bet most people haven’t heard of it. Check out the trailer is you think it sounds interesting.
I’m not going to lie, Adam Brody is the reason why I watched this movie. I used to have a huge crush on him when I was a teenager and he was playing Seth in The O.C. Oh, those good old times.
This movie is about an author who is about to get married and travels around America to meet up with ex-girlfriends to make sure that they don’t have any hard feelings. That’s literally the whole movie, him speaking to different girls. It’s interesting, but I expected more from it to be honest. Kristen Bell is in it too, gotta love her! Unfortunately, his character is a little bit of a tool in the movie, but that won’t make me love him any less! Haha.
So those were the movies I watched. If you know of any good chick flicks or movies in general that you think I should watch, let me know and I’ll check them out!
