This afternoon, Jeremy and I decided that the weather was way too nice outside to just sit inside and do nothing. The sun was shining and there wasn’t much wind. I thought it would be a perfect day to go for a drive to the windmills outside of Palmerston North. So off we went.
The drive there was very quiet, hardly anyone was out on the roads. Not sure if that’s just because it’s winter, or if it’s because this area is not very populated. It’s probably the first. There were a few motorcycles out though, but not many cars. The trip to the windmills only took about 30 minutes or so, and it was really pretty up there.
When we arrived, there were some other people up there taking photos. They looked like tourists, but I guess you never know, they could be locals too. We’re not tourists and we were up there taking photos.
Once we had taken our photos, we decided to continue driving to Woodville to visit their famous cheesecake shop. I’m not a huge cheesecake fan, but I was in the mood for a snack and I didn’t want to go back. Woodville is not far from the windmills at all, maybe a 10 minute drive or so.
We bought a Zesty Lemon Cheesecake, and shared a pot of tea. It was very nice and relaxing. Such a tiny little place, Woodville. Hardly anyone around, but it was a nice change from busy Wellington. Sometimes you just need to go somewhere quiet and it’s a lot harder to do that in Wellington.
If you like cheesecake, I would recommend you visit Yummy Mummy’s Cheesecakes if you’re in the area. They have fresh ones or frozen ones depending on if you want to eat them there or take them with you.
