Exploding Kittens

August 8, 2015

The game arrived in the mail the other day and I was super excited to test it out! If you haven’t heard about Exploding Kittens, I don’t know how you’ve been able to miss it! Long story short, it  is the most backed project on Kickstarter in history.

Co-created by Matthew Inman (The Oatmeal), it’s a super easy and hilarious card game. But the best part of it is that it’s got his art on it. He’s hilarious, so if you haven’t seen his stuff before, check it out. You won’t regret it!

They were playing the game at work drinks last night. It was interesting to see it played with so many people. I think we were almost 10 people playing it at one point! It’s so easy to learn. It only takes about five minutes or so to figure out how it works.

Today Jeremy and I were playing it at home just the two of us, and it’s definitely different playing it with less people. Still a lot of fun, but maybe a little bit easier when there is only one exploding kitten in the deck! Jeremy won three times and I only won once I think, haha. But I’ll get my revenge at some point.

We backed the Kickstarter project, so we got an X-rated version as well, haha. We haven’t opened that one yet though. It’s the same game, just with more explicit images. Not child-friendly so to speak! I’m curious to see what the images are like, but we won’t open it until next week when we’re having our board game day!

Did you back the Kickstarter? If so, have you received it and played it? Let me know in the comments section!

I backed the kickstarter and received the game a week or two ago. When I saw it I knew I needed to get it and simultaneously decided that it would be a fantastic birthday gift for my hubby since his birthday was in July. It didn’t get here until way after his birthday but that’s okay, he still loved it! We also got the NSFW deck and oh my gosh they’re hilarious. Some of the ideas are a tad disturbing, but they’re drawn by The Oatmeal so what else would you expect? 😛

I haven’t tried it in a larger group, just my hubby and I but I enjoyed it all the same. I can only imagine how much fun it is with a bigger group though!

Yeah we bought two just so that we could have one to give away as a gift. Initially it was just the standard game with the expansion, but then they made the NSFW decks full games too, so we technically have 4! It’s a lot of fun to play with more people because it gets a lot less predictable 🙂

A good friend of mine backed this on kickstarter so we gave it a go recently.. It’s brilliant and we had a really good time! Love the R-rated version too!

Yeah it’s a lot of fun! Although it’s a simple game it’s so creative at the same time. I’m glad you like my blog! Will check out yours now!
