I’m not usually a big fan of art, but this kind of art is different. There is something about light in darkness. It’s really beautiful. So I was quite excited to go and have a look at the LUX Light Festival here in Wellington.
I don’t believe I went last year (if I did it must have been pretty forgettable). Some of the art pieces this year were quite impressive.
Each piece had a pedestal next to it with information about the artist and what the meaning of the piece is. I can’t say I read many of them because I suppose I just got too caught up looking at the pretty lights, haha. I believe it was only the second day of the festival when we went, which meant that it was really packed.
We walked around for a couple of hours. It’s quite difficult for me to enjoy these type of things, because I really don’t like crowds. So at one point I was telling Jeremy that it probably would have been a better idea to go a few days later when most of the hype would be gone. But I managed to make it through, haha.
I took quite a few photos, but unfortunately most of them didn’t come out very well. Here are a few photos that I think are worth sharing.
My favourite was the graffiti that you can see above. It was painted on the wall in black and white, and then there was a projector somewhere that coloured it in while creating a story sort of, with sound effects in the background. I thought it was pretty impressive.
Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the Wellington area.
