Volunteering at Ronald McDonald House

August 28, 2015

A while back an email was sent out at work asking for people who would be keen to do some volunteer cooking at Ronald McDonald House, and that sounded like something I’d enjoy, so I signed up for it straight away.

Yesterday was the day, and a bunch of us from work headed over there to cook some hamburgers for families with sick children. We had plenty of people so it wasn’t a struggle to get it all done in time. When I wasn’t cooking or plating food I spent some time taking photos of us all. I won’t upload too many photos of my colleagues here seeing as I haven’t asked for their permission! But here’s a few other photos from last night.

It was a pretty cool experience, so it’s something I wouldn’t mind doing again. I’ve always thought about doing some volunteering, but I’ve never gone through with it. I would also love to do some volunteering at some sort of pet shelter sometime. I think that would be a very rewarding experience too.

It was quite funny, because we were all meant to wear Trade Me t-shirts when we went there, but I had totally forgotten, so I had a dress on. I ended up chucking a Trade Me shirt over my dress, and it didn’t look too terrible, haha. I’m the one in green in the photo above.

Have you done volunteering before, or is it something you’d like to do? 🙂

I taught some underprivileged kids in the school neighborhood, it was quite fun at times, but really hard to get them to do any real studying XD.
The food you guys cooked looks delicious though!
