It’s been a long time since I played poker at work. In fact, I’ve only done it once before and I didn’t have a very great experience. But I decided that it was time to give it another go. I probably shouldn’t have, haha.
Just kidding, it was all good, but I didn’t do very well last night. Firstly, I got shit cards the whole night. Like, I’m not even kidding. I had an ace once, and I probably only saw about 4-5 cards over 10 the whole night (a couple of hours worth of play). So that was pretty terrible. And I wasn’t in a bluffing mood last night either. Although I bluffed in both hands I did win. Yeah, that’s right, I won two hands. Now you might understand why it was a crap night.
Oh well, we all have days like that every now and again. Last time I played poker with friends I won, and the time before that I came second, so I’m pretty happy still. And even though I lost $20, it was still a lot of fun.
I thought the image I used for this post was pretty fitting, seeing as Ace Ten is what I went all in on in the end and lost. That was the one ace I got all night and I was running out of chips big time so I thought I might as well go for it. Unfortunately I was beaten by a pair of kings. Frustration, haha.
Still quite keen to play more games though, because it’s quite fun even if you don’t end up winning. Last night I ended up 5th out of 8. Although one guy lost and paid another $20 to get back in, so I feel like I technically beat 4 people rather than 3.
Do you play poker at all? Let me know in the comments.
