5 nostalgic TV shows

September 20, 2015

Yesterday I was scrolling through the TV shows we have on Plex and I came across Dawson’s Creek, so I thought it would be quite fun to watch the pilot episode.

It’s so cheesy and over the top – I love it! I feel like I should re-watch the whole show now. I don’t think I ever finished Dawson’s Creek. I think I made it to the last season but never completed it. I seem to do that with quite a few shows.

After I watched it I started thinking about other TV shows that are nostalgic for me, and I came up with a list.

Dawson's Creek

I know I just talked about this one, but I had to include it anyway, because I used to watch it religiously as a kid. I recorded it on VHS and re-watched it every now and again. Just mentioning VHS makes me feel really old, haha.

I used to be a big shipper of Joey and Pacey. I still am to be honest. Jen was always my least favourite character, and Dawson was a bit lame too.

The OC

This show was my life when I was a teenager. I sometimes stayed home from school to watch it. And sometimes I used to go home from school during my lunch break to start downloading it, because back in those days it took hours to download one episode, and I wanted it to be finished by the time I got home from school.

It was a shame that the show unfortunately got worse after the second season. But the first season was so good! Big fan of Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson. Cutest TV couple ever!

Friends

Who doesn’t love Friends? This must be one of my favourite TV shows of all time. And it’s still funny even though I’ve seen all the episodes heaps of times. It currently airs at 6pm on weekdays in New Zealand, so when I’m at the gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays, I usually watch it while I’m on the treadmill or the bikes! (They have TVs on them.)

I loved every single character on Friends, but my favourite is definitely Chandler. He just cracks me up so much! Second favourite would probably have to be Ross. I know that he was many people’s least favourite, but I really liked his character.

Gilmore Girls

My mum and I used to watch this show together and we both loved it. We definitely watched it for different reasons I think. My main reason for watching a lot of it was Milo Ventimiglia who played Rory’s love interest Jess. He was my teenage crush for sure, and to be honest, he’s still a crush of mine. That boy is fiiiine, haha.

It was so different from other shows I watched, but I loved the humour in it and it was really well written. Like many other shows I thought that the first couple of seasons were better than the last ones.

Everwood

This is probably a show that not many people know about to be honest. I don’t think it was hugely popular, but this was another show that both me and my mum watched. I loved it. It’s quite interesting to see what the actors have done since the show. Chris Pratt was in it! That was way before he became a hunk and a heartthrob though.

Emily VanCamp of course went on to do Revenge which recently got cancelled. Doesn’t look like the guy who had the lead role as Ephram has done anything big since then. Maybe I’ll re-watch this show one day too.

Those are only five shows, I bet I could come up with a bunch more nostalgic shows to share, but I’ll stop at five for now.

What shows are nostalgic for you? 🙂

I’m a big fan of British period shows like Downton Abbey. Sweden is a beautiful country.

I just love Gilmore Girls! And like you, I used to watch it with my mum. Such an emotional and brilliantly scripted programme. I just love it!

Ahhh! I was totally looking up where to by Everwood on DVD the other day! Used to love that show – same with the OC! Gilmore Girls is next on my binge-watching list. One Tree Hill is my current classic!

Yeah I’ll have to re-watch One Tree Hill at some point. I thought about including it on the list, but I just thought it’s a bit too recent to feel nostalgic, haha.

Haha season 1 when you see the CD players and original iPod – totally change your mind! The later seasons are reasonably new but the first is quite nostalgic. And great music haha!

90210 was also a good show to watch. (I was probably 8-10 when I started watching it!). Your list is pretty much the same as mine. Dawson Creek is a bit cheesy…

It’s super cheesy but I can’t help but love it! Since I wrote that post, I’ve watched 7 episodes, haha. I think I’ll probably re-watch the whole thing. It’s just so nostalgic.
