Things that excite me as an adult

September 29, 2015

You know how when you were a kid, you got excited about presents, your birthday, staying up late, getting an allowance and all that? Well, lately I’ve been thinking about things that excite me as an adult, and I’ve decided to make a list of it.

The things that excite me these days are very different from what they used to be when I was a kid or a teenager. It’s been quite fun to sit down and think about this, so I would recommend that you do the same if you haven’t made on of these lists before.

Things that excite me as an adult

Getting tax refunds
This doesn’t happen every year, but when it does happen, it’s like Xmas! Who doesn’t like getting money! Sure, it’s money I’ve actually paid, but at least they’re giving it back to me!

Recipe books
I learned how to cook quite late, because I lived with my mum till I was 20 and she was an amazing cook, so I never had to do any of it myself. But since I’ve had to cook my own meals, I love trying new recipes, and I love flicking through recipe books to look for inspiration.

2 for 1 deals
When I was younger, I didn’t really care if an item was on sale or not, I would just buy it anyway. These days I always look for deals and will sometimes hold off buying an item until it’s put on sale or is included in a 2 for 1 deal.

Waking up with energy
I used to absolutely love sleeping in. But these days, I actually get quite excited when I wake up early and don’t feel tired. I just love having more time during the day to do stuff, and I can’t believe it took me so long to figure out that sleeping in is a waste of time!

Making my own decisions
I suppose this one’s a pretty common one, but it’s just so great to be able to decide when you feel like cleaning, or being able to eat whatever you want, whenever you want, without having someone trying to make those decisions for you.

Telling people ‘when I was your age’
It’s sad, but it does actually excite me to think about the fact that I’ve got more life experience than those who are younger than me and am able to give them advise on what not to do based on that experience.

Watching the news
I didn’t watch the news often as a teenager, but these days I watch the news in the mornings and often evenings too. I also read news online throughout the day to keep myself updated.

These are the things I could think about at this moment. I’m sure there are more things that I’ll think of later.

What excites you? 🙂
