Wanaka – Day 2 (Part 2)

October 25, 2015

After Jeremy and I came back from the car tour with ‘Funny French Cars’ we rested for a little bit before we took off to Puzzling World. I was worried that Puzzling World would be mostly for kids, and I suppose in a way it is, but it was actually quite fun.

We started out by making our way through their maze. It was quite large, and you had to find the four corners and then find your way out again. It took us longer than I thought it would to be honest. We went the wrong way so many times, and for a while it felt like we were walking around in circles, haha. But we finally made it. I think it took a total of 30-40 minutes or something like that.

After that we checked out their ‘Illusions’ exhibit. There was one room in particular that I couldn’t really handle. It was the leaning room. You walk in, and you’re walking uphill, but the room makes it look like it’s a normal room. It’s hard to explain, but it really messes with your brain. There was a chair you could sit in, which looks like it’s sliding up when you’re sitting on it, but it’s actually going down. So weird. I got a bit of motion sickness in there so I had to get out pretty fast. Took me a while to recover too!

The other stuff in there was OK, nothing spectacular, haha. I was worried that my motion sickness would ruin dinner, but luckily I managed to feel better before it was time to go eat.

We headed back to our hotel room to get changed and have a bit of a rest before dinner. Then we were off to ‘The Landing’, a restaurant right around the corner from where we were staying. It had a pretty good rating on Tripadvisor, so we thought we’d check it out.

The starters and the dessert were amazing. The main, not so much. But I think that’s partly my fault, because I ordered the pork belly, and it had so much fat in it. I’m assuming that’s the way pork belly should be? I really don’t like eating that much fat. So I had to leave quite a bit of it behind unfortunately.

For the starters we ordered prawn skewers and a trio of bruschetta. So yummy. And for dessert I had the Crème Brulée, and Jeremy had the Chocolate Fondant. Just thinking about them makes me drool right now, haha.

After dinner, we went for a bit of a walk around the town centre, and then we headed back to the motel. I was quite tired so I went to sleep quite early, which was probably good because the next day was very eventful, and you’ll find out about that in my next post!

Emma and I did Puzzling world. Although, the day we went coincided with a rugby match and we jumped the fence so we wouldn’t miss kick off… That maze was hard!

Haha, I would totally have done the same. Yeah, it was a lot harder than I thought it would be to be honest. But all the kids were getting through it much faster than we were!
