It’s been quite some time since I went out for Karaoke. I don’t have too many friends who enjoy that sort of thing, but luckily there are a couple that do. We had planned to go out for Karaoke yesterday, but I don’t think either of us thought we would be doing it for over 3 hours! And it was only the three of us – me, Joris and Wiremu. So we managed to squeeze in quite a lot of singing. Loved it.
Joris and Wiremu obviously have more experience than I do, because both of them have lists of songs they like singing on their phones. I never really thought of writing them down, so I usually just try new stuff. A lot of the time I’ll pick a song just because I like it, without considering the fact that it’s impossible for me to sing.
I got home just before 3am I think. Jeremy was amazing as always and drove into town to pick me up. It’s things like that that makes me realise how lucky I am to have him. I mean, who drives all the way into town at three in the morning to pick someone up? Well, Jeremy does.
I haven’t drunk much alcohol lately, because for some reason my body really can’t handle it anymore. But last night I had a few glasses of wine, and some Soju at the Karaoke restaurant. I didn’t feel very drunk, just tipsy enough to sing Karaoke like there was no tomorrow! But I woke up around 8am this morning and felt like death. It was not a pleasant morning at all. I tried to get out of bed at a reasonable hour, but my body thought that was a terrible idea, so I went back to bed and slept till around 2pm. Even after that I was still feeling horrible. I think it’s safe to say alcohol is not for me anymore.
Jeremy and I headed out for lunch and drove out to Eastbourne. The fresh air really helped me feel better, and I bought a frozen coke which was really refreshing. I don’t know what it is about frozen cokes, but they just seem to work wonders with curing hangovers for me! Maybe it’s the sugar? Not sure.
I’ve always been a bit strange in the way that I need cold things to feel better when I have a hangover. I take cold showers, drink cold drinks and eat cold foods. I’ve heard others say all they want is hot stuff, but that would just make me feel worse. I remember when I was younger, I always used to sit on the balcony when I was recovering from a stomach bug or similar, even if it was in the middle of winter and -10 degrees. There is nothing better than cold fresh air when you feel ill.
I feel better now thankfully, but I think there will be some time before I drink again!
