My shopping wishlist for winter

March 31, 2016

Winter is coming. And unlike Game of Thrones, it will actually happen sometime soon. I’m not a fan of winter. I mean, there are a few things about it that aren’t so bad. I like lighting candles, and wrapping yourself in a blanket with a hot drink is quite cosy too. But the main reason why I dislike it is because I’m naturally very cold. Even in summer, people will walk around in dresses, skirts and shorts and you’ll find me with a jacket on. I’m not sure why, but that’s just always been the case. The air conditioning at work is my worst enemy.

So I think I need to prepare myself for winter by purchasing some things that will keep me warm and happy. I’ve made a list of things I’d like to buy sometime soon to make sure this is the case.

A onesie

I love a good onesie. I have one at home, but unfortunately the zip has broken so I can’t wear it any more. It was a sad day when that happened, and I felt lost without it for a while. I used to come home from work, get undressed and jump into my onesie straight away. I’d love to be able to do that again this winter. I would absolutely love to buy an actual OnePiece branded onesie, because they look amazingly comfortable. A bit pricey though unfortunately.

A hot water bottle

I’ve got one of these already, but unfortunately it’s broken. I made the mistake of leaving the water in it over summer, which completely ruined the screw top thing on the bottle, so it sort of got stuck inside it, and it’s really difficult to fill it up. So I would love a new one of those. I had a look around and found the Yuyu bottle. That would be perfect! Can someone please buy me one of them?

Warm socks

My feet are always the coldest part of my body, along with my hands and my nose. So some pairs for warm socks would be absolutely lovely. I live in New Zealand – the country of sheep – so finding some Merino socks around shouldn’t be too difficult. I wish I could knit them myself, but I’ve tried a sock before and I failed miserably.

I love boots that go up almost all the way to the knee, because they keep both my feet and my lower legs warm. I bought a reasonably expensive pair last year, but unfortunately I had the same problem with those as I did the onesie – the zip broke. It was quite disappointing to be honest. Jeremy always tells me to invest in something more expensive because it will last longer, but I don’t seem to have much luck with that. I’d love a new pair. Maybe something like these below:

I absolutely love their loose teas. I feel like I should buy some more and make it a habit to always have a cup of tea before I go to bed at night. I’m running out of both the Jasmine tea and Earl Grey Blue Fruit tea that I bought at the Food Show last year. The food show is coming to Wellington in May again. I wonder if they’ll be there…

Loose leaf herbal teas are an all round delicious tea choice! With these teas you have full reign to experiment with…

If your hands and feet are warm, your whole body will feel warm. That’s what they say anyway. So I’d love to get some mittens to keep me warm. I have a feeling they’d be frustrating to wear though, especially if I need to use my phone. When will then come up with a Touch screen that works with mittens?

You can never have too many sweaters, right? Well, I don’t have many at all, so I definitely need some more. Maybe I should get a cute one, like the one below?

Those are some things I feel I need. There are lots more, like cosy blankets, a nice coat and maybe some slippers, but I don’t think those are as important. I know most of my readers are from America so good on you guys for heading into summer soon. I’m very jealous.
