Ask me anything #1

April 18, 2016

This is a new post that I’m thinking of making into a regular series – hence the #1 in the title. I’m not promising that it’ll be an every week kind of thing, but it will definitely be a returning post. I think it’s a good way for people to get to know me a bit better. I’ll happily answer your questions, so if you’ve got any, pop them in the comments section of this post and I’ll make sure to include them next time (no super inappropriate questions please…)

Because I didn’t get any questions from my readers for this first post, I’ve just gathered some random ones off the internet.

Have you ever written a book?
I haven’t, but I’ve started a few. I’ve loved writing every since I was a kid, but I’ve never been a ‘writer’. My writing style is way too casual for writing a book. I used to write poems when I was a teenager, and I think my mum or dad still has one of my little poem notebooks. I even took a poem writing class after school. I would love to write a book one day though. About what? Who knows.

Are you superstitious?
Kind of. I guess it’s not really superstition, but I believe in Karma. I don’t know why, but I just feel like it’s a thing. If you do good things, good things will happen to you. If you do terrible things, then watch out. I feel like it’s been pretty accurate in my life so far.

What’s the most daring thing you’ve done?
Might not sound as daring as bungee jumping or sky diving, but the most daring thing I’ve done is move to the other side of the world. I’ve always been a shy, quite introverted person who isn’t super keen on taking risks, but when I fell in love in 2008 and the love of my life was moving back to New Zealand, I decided to pack my bags and go on the biggest adventure of my life. It’s been a roller-coaster of an experience, but I don’t regret doing it for one second.

Have you ever tried to cut your own hair?
No, and I will never. My hair is more important to me than a lot of things in this world. Because I always want my hair to look as nice as possible, I’ve basically ruined it by using blow-dryers, straighteners etc. Going to the hairdresser has always been terrifying, almost more terrifying than going to the dentist, because I’m so scared they’ll do something to my hair that I’ll hate. In saying that, I trust them more than myself when it comes to cutting it, haha.

Have you ever had a birthday party at McDonald’s?
No, but I have attended one. Or maybe two? I remember that at least one of my friends had a party there when we were kids. I don’t think they’re too common in Sweden. Usually you host the party at your place and have cake and play games. From my experience anyways. Do they even do McDonald’s kids parties anymore?

Have you ever fallen asleep in school/at work?
No, I would be way too embarrassed if I let that happen. One time I tried to take a nap at work because I was feeling terrible and exhausted, but my brain wouldn’t let me because all I could keep thinking was ‘what if I drool’ or ‘what if I start snoring’. I’m not even a snorer, so I don’t even know why I would worry about that!

Would you rather be rich and unhappy, or poor and happy?
Does anyone ever answer rich and unhappy? I definitely believe money can buy you happiness to some extent, but certainly not enough to last. So I would choose poor and happy over rich and unhappy any day. Happiness is everything to me.

Would you hang out with/date someone your best friend didn’t like?
Yes, I would. I’m sorry, but at the end of the day, if someone makes me happy and they haven’t done anything to hurt or upset me, I wouldn’t want to give that up just because someone else has something against them. It might sound selfish, but I seriously don’t believe anyone should give up on what makes them happy just to please others.

Do you sing in the car?
Always. I don’t sing loudly though, I try to stay quiet enough for it not to be noticeable. But I just can’t hear a song I love and not sing along to it when I’m in the car. I’ve tried, and it’s impossible. Sorry to anyone I might be in a car with in the future, haha!

What is your favorite fruit?
Feijoas without a doubt. I’d never had one before I came to New Zealand. Apparently there are very few places they can actually grow, New Zealand being on of them of course. I absolutely love them. Feijoa season is coming up too, I’m so excited!

That’s it for now. If there is anything you’d like to ask me, please go ahead in the Comments section. As long as the questions aren’t clearly inappropriate, I’ll answer them in my next ‘Ask me anything’ post.
