Ask me anything #3

May 9, 2016

Have you ever accidentally taken something from a hotel?
No, never by accident. I always take the shampoo and conditioner, and the teas and coffees. But I never take anything you’re not allowed to take. I would feel way too guilty. I love that episode of Friends when Ross is talking about what you can take from a hotel to make up the money they charge you.

What is your favorite breed of dog?
I don’t know if I have a favourite actually. If I had to pick one I guess it would have to be a labrador, or maybe a husky. I do love dogs but I’m more of a cat person to be honest.

Do you talk in your sleep?
I don’t think I do. I used to walk in my sleep when I was a kid though. It was pretty creepy. My mum has told me some stories. Apparently one time I went out in the kitchen, turned on the tap and stood there watching it for a bit. Then just turned it off again and went back to bed. Another time I sat down next to mum in bed and woke her up just saying ‘My arm! Mum, my arm!’ Then halfway through I woke up and had no idea what I was doing. I guess that would count as talking in my sleep, but I don’t think I’ve done that since.

Have you ever broken a bone?
The only bone I’ve broken was my little toe when I was a teenager. I kicked a stool so hard, and the pain was unbearable. But because they can’t really do anything about a broken little toe, I literally just had to ‘walk it off’.

Would you climb a very high tree to save a kitten?
Now this is a hard one. I would definitely want to, but I’m afraid of heights. And I also don’t know how you’re supposed to hold on to a cat and climb a tree at the same time. If I had a ladder, I would definitely do it, but without a ladder, it would be pretty difficult and I would probably fall and injure myself and the kitten.

Which of the five senses is most important to you?
They’re all pretty important, but I’m going to have to say sight. There are so many beautiful things in this world, and I don’t know how I would live without seeing them. If I was born without sight, I may have felt differently, but losing your sight later in life must be an extremely tough thing to go through.

If you won a $5,000 shopping spree to any store, which store would you pick?
I’m going to have to say IKEA. You could probably decorate your whole house with $5,000. I absolutely love shopping at IKEA, and every time I go there I want to buy so much more than I do. But I always have to stop and think ‘do I really need this’ or ‘could I do without that one’. If I had $5,000 to spend, I would have to ask myself those questions, I’d just go for it!

Would you give someone else a gift that had been given to you?
I probably would, as long as the person who gave me the gift didn’t know the person I re-gifted it to. It would be very awkward if the person who gifted it to me in the first place was around at the other person’s house and spotted the gift. It would be very hard to justify!

If you could attend an Olympic Event, what would it be?
Ice hockey for sure. I love ice hockey, and it’s been quite some time since I’ve seen any, seeing as I’ve been living in New Zealand for the last 8 years and they don’t really do ice hockey here. I still remember the olympic final between Sweden and Finland in 2006. That was one intense game and I couldn’t take my eyes off the TV! It made it even better that Sweden won the olympic gold.

Do you need corrective lenses?
I do, I wear contacts every day. It’s annoying, and if I was brave enough I’d probably consider laser eye surgery, but I’m way too scared that something would go wrong and I’d lose my sight. My sight isn’t super duper bad, but if I don’t wear glasses or contacts, I would quickly get a headache and everyone would be blurry, haha. In high school, I refused to wear my glasses because I thought I looked ugly in them, so instead I would walk around the halls not able to see people’s faces properly. If someone waved at me, I wouldn’t wave back, because I wouldn’t actually be able to tell who they were from a distance.

Feel free to ask me any questions for the next ‘Ask me anything’ post. If your question is selected, I will link back to your blog if you have one. 🙂
