Where have I been?

May 31, 2016

So I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but it’s been some time since I last posted on the blog. There are a few reasons for this and I thought I’d let you know a bit more about it. I haven’t been in the mood to write posts lately because I’ve had a lot of other things to think about.

Firstly, my grandmother passed away recently, and that was quite tough. I wasn’t extremely close with my grandmother, but it really bothers me that I didn’t see her for the last three years. The last time I spoke to her was around Christmas 2014 I believe when I decided to give her a call through Skype. I didn’t call her often, because she didn’t have a computer, so I could only talk to her if I called her actual landline, which I could only do through Skype if I didn’t want the call to bankrupt me.

She sounded pretty alright back then, but I know from what mum has told me that she started getting worse and worse quite quickly, and towards the end, she was not too bothered about passing. It’s sad to think, but in a way it makes me a bit less sad about her passing, because she was ready for it. I also wanted to be home in Sweden to support my family through this time, but I knew that there was no way I could afford flying home for it, and that made me very depressed.

The second reason why I haven’t posted lately is because I made a major decision for some change in my life. I quit my job. I had reached the stage where I didn’t feel excited about coming into work in the mornings anymore and I knew I needed something new. I’ve been lucky enough to score myself a 6-month contract working for Xero and I start next week! Wednesday is my last day at Trade Me. It will be an end to an era for sure!

So that’s a brief explanation on where I’ve been. Well, maybe not so brief, but trust me, it could have been a lot longer because there are other things going on at the moment as well, but I won’t bother you with the details.

Thank you. Yes, lots of changes, but I’m excited about most of them 🙂
