A rainy Sunday calls for High Tea!

June 12, 2016

The rain has been pouring down today. Jeremy and I went to the Sunday market as usual, but this time we got completely soaked while there. It was pretty horrible. My jacket was soaked, my jeans were soaked, and my shoes and socks were soaked. I kind of just felt like heading back home to change into something more comfortable, but we had booked in high tea, so we had to head straight there.

Luckily, it was nice and warm in the restaurant. We had some hot tea and some lovely little treats that they brought out.

Starting from the bottom there were some Cucumber and Cream Cheese sandwiches, Ham and Cheese sandwiches and Chicken and Mushroom Filo Pastries. All of them were yum, and I kind of wish there would have been more savoury treats. But I suppose that isn’t what high tea is about.

On the second layer, there was a Savoury Scone, a type of custard-filled profiterole and a sweet scone. The sweet scone was unfortunately quite dry, and it really needed some cream and jam. I’m surprised it didn’t come with it. From my experience it usually does.

On the top layer there were some Chocolate Macaroons and pistachio muffins with a cream topping. They were pretty yum, but I thought there was a bit too much sweet. When I was younger, I was all about the sweet stuff, but these days I prefer more savoury and less sweet. Maybe it’s an age thing?

By the time we were finished my jeans had pretty much dried completely. Unfortunately my socks and shoes were still super wet. I don’t know about you, but for me there is nothing worse than walking around with wet socks. Yuk. So we quickly went to the supermarket and headed straight home after that. Today has certainly been a day best spent indoors.

What did you spend your Sunday doing?

Oh my, HIGH TEA! YUM. I have never attended one, but I have wanted to for the longest time! I think the top layer would have been my fave! I do like savoury things more these days, but I will never say no to a macaron! I spent my Sunday in bed watching Gossip Girl ha. No lie. I am way too obsessed with that show at the moment!

Love high tea! Especially when you get a glass of bubbles on the side! We had it quite early on the Sunday though, so we skipped the bubbles and had cocktails instead! Oh, and I love Gossip Girl! Have you seen the whole show and are re-watching it? Or have you not finished it yet?

Hey there would you mind sharing which blog platform
you’re using? I’m going to start my own blog in the near future but I’m having a hard time making a decision between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.

The reason I ask is because your design and style seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something unique.
P.S My apologies for being off-topic but I had to ask!

I bought the design of my blog from, and I host my blog through SiteGround. 🙂 I would recommend both!
