On Friday night, I headed back to my old work to say hi to some friends and have a few drinks. It was really cool seeing them again and I stuck around till 7pm when drinks were over. I had originally planned on heading back home after that, but decided to hang out with them a bit longer seeing as we were having a great time. So Joris, Satish, Ian and I headed to Joris’ place for some drinks and chats.
On the way to Joris’ apartment we stopped at a kebab food truck. Well, apparently they’re not called kebabs because they’re Egyptian, but I can’t remember what the name was. Something that starts with S. Because I no longer work at Trade Me, I had to wear a name tag while visiting. Satish dared me to pop my name tag on the kebab guy, and if I managed to do it without him noticing, he would pay for my dinner. When we got to the truck, the guy was nowhere to be seen, turned out he’d popped to the bathroom quickly, and when he came back, I gave him a hug and popped my name tag on his back. Success!
At Joris’ place we listened to some music and talked about all kinds of things. Alicia and Kyle joined us after they’d been out for dinner. The rest of the night was great, but I drunk way too much. It’s been a while since I’d had that much wine in one night, so I knew what was to come.
Although, in saying that, I actually didn’t feel too bad when I woke up on Saturday morning. I felt more dehydrated and hungry than anything else. Jeremy and I went and had our first ‘Burger Wellington’ burger of the year. More on that later.
On Saturday night, we had Colin, James and Pat around for some poker and card games. James won the poker as always. I don’t know how he does it. He was so close to being out a couple of times, but managed to play his way back and take it all out. I’m a little bitter about it. Just a little.
I was feeling a bit ill in the evening, it was sort of like my body realised that I was hungover a bit later than normal, but all that disappeared after having some pizza for dinner. Nothing like a pizza from Hell’s Pizza to cure a hangover.
Once the poker was over we played the card game Asshole. I hadn’t played that game in forever! Terrible name, but it’s so much fun. Pretty great weekend!
