This was my first trip out of Scandinavia, my first flight overseas and my second flight in total. I’d wanted to go to London for quite some time, and Ryanair was doing this promotion where you paid 1 SEK for the flight. That was a little bit too good to ignore, so Jeremy and I booked it in. We flew over for the weekend, and I had a great time.
We saw a lot of the usual attractions, like Tower Bridge, Big Ben, The London Eye, Buckingham Palace etc, but it was all done in a little bit of a rush seeing as we were only there for two nights. I would love to go back and do it a bit slower next time to allow plenty of time to actually appreciate it all. We jumped on board one of those red ‘hop on hop off’ sightseeing buses and went from spot to spot.
I kind of wanted to visit Madame Tussaud’s, but we had to prioritise seeing as we didn’t have much time. So instead of going there we visited Harrods. I’d heard it was really fancy and expensive, and it definitely was. I almost felt a bit scared touching the things in there.
I tried on a pair of shoes that cost £300 and looked at a suitcase that cost £1950. What’s the point of buying a bag that expensive? That to me just seems like a huge waste of money. Maybe I would feel differently if I was filthy rich.
I can’t believe I was only 19 when we went on that trip. I definitely have to go back sometime soon to check out the things I missed. Luckily I know quite a few people that live over there now, so I can catch up with them, and if I’m lucky, maybe I can score myself some super cheap accommodation!
