Less than 80 days to go…

September 20, 2016

If you’re a new follower of my blog, you might not know this, but I’m moving back home to Sweden in December. I’ve been living in New Zealand for the last 8 years, and my fiancé and I have decided it’s time to move to Europe. We initially agreed on moving to The UK, but after a bit of research, we’ve decided Sweden is actually better in many ways. Plus, my family is there, so of course I think it’s better!

I can’t wait to hug my family! The wait has felt super long. We decided we were going to move over a year ago, but realistically, we couldn’t have moved any earlier than what we ended up deciding on, so we just had to be prepared to wait. Although it’s been ages, I now can’t believe we’ll be moving in less than three months. It’s crazy to think I’ll start 2017 in Sweden. I haven’t been home for Christmas or New Years since 2009 I believe. Insane.

We’re currently trying to sort out a property manager for our house, as we’ll be renting it out while living in Sweden. There are so many property managers to choose from, it’s ridiculous. I put up a post on Neighbourly, asking for recommendations, and I kid you not, I got about 15 suggestions. I was hoping there would be one particular property management company most people would agree was the best, to make it easier for me. But no, that wasn’t the case, and in a way it made it even more difficult to decide on one. Typical.

We’ve currently got two property managers lined up to come over and give us free rent appraisals. I’m curious to see how much they reckon we can rent this place out for. We’ve made some improvements to the house since buying it, so hopefully we’ll be able to charge a bit more rent than the previous owners did.

Alright, time for me to go to bed to dream about Sweden!

Haha, I wish that was my house but it’s a stock photo. I thought of putting a photo of my house up, but for privacy reasons I decided not to. Yeah, although it feels like I’ve been waiting for this move forever, the year really has flown by!

Hope you love being back in Sweden! It is a really mild autumn so far, warm and sunny. Fingers crossed (and thumbs held :)) for some proper snow and a white Christmas for you.
