We’ve moved out of our house!

December 5, 2016

It’s been a rough couple of days. Jeremy and I have pretty much been busy packing and cleaning for three days straight with hardly any rest. I think now that we’re out of the house, we’ve realised that it probably would have been worth the money to hire someone to do the cleaning for us. It was so draining, I cried a couple of times. Only a little though, until I reminded myself of why we were doing it, and then I felt much happier again. Tired, but happy.

We spent last night at my friend Kitty’s place. She’s been kind enough to offer her spare room for the last nights we’re in New Zealand. Moving all the bags of stuff we’re taking with us was a mission. Luckily, Kitty was also kind enough to allow us to load it all into her car, which is a lot bigger than ours. We went back to the house this morning to do the very last of the cleaning, and another run to the dump. Now it’s done – we’ve officially moved out of our house. Here are a couple of before and after shots to show you a little of what was done during the last three days.

We drove up to Palmerston North this morning to drop off some things at Jeremy’s parent’s place. Tomorrow we’re taking the crazy early train back to Wellington at 6 something in the morning. As tomorrow is our last day in New Zealand, we will be spending the whole day re-packing and organising to make sure we’ve got everything we need, and have chucked out anything we don’t need. It’s going to be another very stressful and busy day, but we’ll get through it and then we’ll be on our way.

I’ll make sure to blog along the way, unless I can’t connect to the internet for some reason, but that shouldn’t be the case!

I remember that feeling all to well! Moving can be so stressful, let alone to a different country! Hope all goes smoothly! ☺️

Oh my, that is nuts! I definitely would have hired someone (or bribed my friends/family into helping me). I hope you have a safe flight and get settled in okay 🙂 I can’t wait to read all about this new start!
