The Auckland Fair, shopping and champagne

    August 5, 2016

On Sunday, Jeremy and I had a whole day to spend in Auckland. The weather was absolutely terrible, we woke up to thunder and lightning, so some of the usual things we get up to when in Auckland, were not possible this time. We did consider going to the Casino, I’m not going to lie. However, because I know that I have to save as much as possible before we go to Sweden, I managed to convince myself I didn’t need to gamble. Trust me, it was harder than it sounds.

Instead, we went into town with Christine and first had brunch at Imperial Lane cafe. It was OK, but unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend it. Mainly because I found it to be a bit overpriced, and the food was a bit strange. Christine’s soup was more like a puree, my bagel was tiny and only had smoked salmon on half of it, and Jeremy’s granola was so crunchy he cut himself while chewing it, even after soaking it in milk. Slightly disappointing. It looked pretty though.

Once we finished brunch, we braved the rain and literally ran to the Auckland Fair. We got absolutely soaked on the way, but it was great to get indoors. We paid $5 to get in, which I thought was a bit strange, seeing as there wasn’t anything provided except opportunities to buy crafts. So you basically had to spend money for the opportunity to spend money. Oh well.

There were a lot of really cool little stalls in there though, and I got very inspired to do crafts. I walked around in jealousy, thinking I would never be able to make cool stuff like that. I’m so negative sometimes.

We didn’t actually end up buying anything, well, Christine did, but Jeremy and I were mainly just looking around and I got really inspired to make something of my own.

You probably don’t know this about me, but I love coasters. I almost bought the turquoise flower shaped ones in the photo above, but stopped myself as I knew I didn’t have to spend $40 on coasters. I love making coasters too, but I’m nowhere near as good as she is! That stall in particular was pretty amazing!

We spent an hour or so in there before we decided to head to Sylvia Park for a bit of a snack. Cheesecake and tea were the choices of the afternoon.

We did some shopping at the mall too. Well, again, Christine did. I didn’t actually end up buying anything! I’m proud of myself, because spending money is one of my favourite things to do. Especially if it’s on homeware. And we went to both ‘Bed, Bath & Table’ and ‘Bed Bath & Beyond’. I saw so many things I wanted to bring home with me, but managed to control myself.

We spent the rest of the afternoon at Christine’s place. She’s got an adorable cat called Bella, who unfortunately seems to hate me. Not sure what I did to her, but she was not interested in being around me or being petted by me. She did love Jeremy’s shoes though and even slept on them for a while.

We said goodbye to Christine and Ben around 7pm and drove off to the airport to fly back to Wellington. We wanted to get there early so that we could enjoy a dinner in the Koru Lounge, seeing as we wouldn’t arrive back in Wellington until 10pm. We got there just in time to be able to plate ourselves some food.Watch Full Movie Online Streaming Online and Download

I took the opportunity to enjoy a glass of champagne with dessert too. How did I ever enjoy airports before we had access to lounges? Good thing Jeremy’s all about travelling in comfort. He sorts it all out, and I enjoy it!
