Who is The Swedish Kiwi?

My name is Sophie. I grew up in a small town called Nyköping in Sweden and lived there with my family till I was 20 years old in 2008. I met my partner Jeremy online, and he came over from New Zealand to Sweden to study in 2008. We fell in love and spent most of 2008 with each other, travelling around Sweden and different parts of Europe.

When it was time for him to leave Sweden, I spent a few weeks dreading the thought of being away from him, and after some time I decided to go with him. A decision which was very hard to make, as I’m quite an anxious person who easily overthinks things and can sometimes be afraid to try new things.

Everything worked out well though, as I’ve lived in New Zealand since, and Jeremy and I got engaged in October 2015, on top of Cecil Peak in beautiful Queenstown.

Engagement3

I’ve been lucky enough to travel around New Zealand quite a bit. It’s such a beautiful place, and I don’t regret coming here for a second. In saying that, I miss my family a lot, so I try to go visit them as often as I can. The plan is to move back over there sometime in the near future.

Through this blog I will share with you my thoughts, dreams, goals, achievements, challenges and overall experiences.

Feel free to ask me any questions, and I’ll be happy to answer them! 🙂

I always wanted to go to New Zealand. My husband and I are planning to go in the near future (maybe next summer?). Welcome to WordPress.

Oh cool! Yeah, you definitely should come here. Are you meaning New Zealand summer? I would definitely recommend doing that, rather than coming here in winter. 🙂

Ha sorry I’m still used to Canadian weather. Summer in Canada is June-August. when’s summer in NZ?

Summer in New Zealand is December – February, haha. So the opposite. It took me a while to get used to those months being the warmest, coming from Sweden where it’s snowing around then, haha!

Yes, New Zealand is a beautiful place – but an awfully long way from anywhere else! I’ve done it the other way around, and now I enjoy being a New Zealander living in Turkey. It seems like the centre of the world!

I’m not too sure what you mean! But I do consider mine and Jeremy’s relationship to be a bit of a love story, if that’s what you were referring to? Haha!

Hi Sophie, Thanks for following me over at http://www.gingerandcream.wordpress.com I really appreciate it, sorry it has taken me so long to come over and follow back as I’ve a little baby and not been blogging for a wee while. What an absolutely gorgeous blog you have, really makes me think about upping my game and getting a proper design done! Beautiful! x

Not a problem. I thought your blog looked great and I love looking at fashion images (even though I’m not very fashionable myself!) Thanks for following back. I took the lazy way out and bought my blog design from Etsy rather than designing it myself. Totally worth it! 🙂

    Hej Sophie!

    Hi Sophie,
Thanks for checking out my blog. I love your photos too, and your blog. I look forward to reading more.
It’s great you were able to follow through on the decision to come live in New Zealand. I know it’s not easy to leave family. We will be going back to the US in September and I am really looking forward to seeing friends and family in person again. We definitely will be coming to New Zealand again, though.
